Jaffe made his announcement in a very open post on the PlayStation Blog stating that the game just isn't ready yet and that they need more time to polish it off.

He wrote: "We're going to miss our date. We're going to be late. A lot of dedicated, supportive, passionate Twisted Metal fans have been waiting for a long time but the truth is: we're just not ready yet. Thing is, you gotta trust me when I tell you that with this extra time for tuning and polish the game is going to be so much better than it already is. With Twisted Metal we plan to ship a classic."

He also quoted saying: "A late game is only late until it ships. A bad game is bad until the end of time."

Twisted Metal will still be on show at this year's GamesCom and PAX Prime events so there will be opportunities for fans to see more of the game this year. Jaffe finished saying that Twisted Metal will now be out at the beginning of 2012.
