Cowen & Company estimates that, based on pre-orders, Battlefield 3 will sell between 8 and 11 million copies. The numbers are based on the Battlefield 3's pre-order figures being very similar to Call of Duty: Black Ops which went on to sell 20 million.
This could be a very big year for EA with Battlefield 3 potentially being followed by a Christmas release for Star Wars: The Old Republic.
The analytical firm said on SW: TOR: "We would have expected this to be greeted as good news, since a 2012 launch appears unlikely, but the mildly negative reaction by ERTS shares yesterday suggests investor expectations for the game are quite high."
