Interplay's Fallout 3 hope amid eviction concerns
Plenty of strangeness today from Interplay...
Despite the halt to development on Baldur's Gate 3 and the subsequent closure of veteran RPG developer Black Isle, Interplay CEO Herve Caen has confirmed "we're planning to publish Fallout 3," at yesterday's investor relations conference. Many had naturally assumed that any hope of a third in the illustrious series had died with the departure of the Black Isle team, however Caen implied in the session that development might go ahead in cooperation with a third-party developer. Great news for fans of the series and RPG gamers everywhere.
However, despite an overtly optimistic talk with analysts and investors, in which a new Kingpin game and other goodies were revealed, word from GameSpot today has it that the publisher only has $1.2 million in the bank to play with and is facing eviction from its corporate HQ in California with rent arrears of $450,000 owing. Not a positive situation going forward, then. More on Interplay's peaks and troughs as we get it.
