Nintendo has revealed that they plan to have a very open service for their new home console, the U.

Up until now, the online services that has offered have not been all that well-subscribed by users or developers with the Wii's service especially being a fairly restrictive platform.

Nintendo of America boss, insists that this will all change with the Wii U. He began: "For Wii U... what we're doing is creating a much more flexible system that will allow the best approaches by independent publishers to come to bear. So instead of a situation where a publisher has their own network and wants that to be the predominant platform, and having arguments with platform holders, were going to welcome that. We're going to welcome that from the best and the brightest of the third party publishers."

Fils-Aime continued: "We've said that the will have an extremely robust online experience. There will be other publishers talking about that as well, and from our perspective, we think it's much more compelling for that information to come from the publishers than to come from us. We've seen what our competitors have done, and we've acknowledged that we need to do more online, starting with the launch of our eShop on Nintendo 3DS, and were going to continue to build our online capability."

There is still a bit of a mystery surrounding what kind of storage media the Wii U will use but whether it uses flash memory or a hard disc drive it will need to have a decent storage capacity to be able to hold its own against the and with their 250GB and 320GB capacities respectively.

Thanks Forbes.
