Nintendo has confirmed that the U will only support one of their new enhanced controller with the touch screen.

Satoru Iwata, president of Nintendo, admitted that the was technically capable of supporting more than one of the new controllers but it would be far too costly for consumers to pick up additional controllers.

Iwata-san explained to Japanese business site Diamond Online: "There's a cost issue. Technically, it is possible for the Wii U to support multiple Wii U Controllers. We're not planning on asking our customers to buy multiple Wii U Controllers."

The new controller which features a camera, gyroscope and 6.2 inch touch screen as well as tradtional controls was the main focus of Nintendo's attention when they unveiled the Wii U at this year's E3 expo in Los Angeles earlier this month.
