Capcom has sold the rights to making a film based on the series to a subsidiary of Sony.

Screen Gems who are owned by themselves has bought the rights to make a Devil May Cry and has a script in with Kane and Lynch movie writer Kyle Ward.

The story of the film is believed to follow Dante as he slaughters his way through hordes of demons with his usual style as he tries to avenge the death of his mother.

There are no indications whether the film will follow along the lines of the first four Devil May Cry titles or whether it will be more akin to the upcoming reboot of the series.
