Nintendo's Project Cafe could be another Dreamcast says Pachter
Analyst remains sceptical o Nintendo's new home console
Wedbush Morgan analyst, Michael Pachter, has expressed doubts over the future that the any successor of the Wii may have at this point.
Pachter called Project Cafe an inbetweener and compared it to SEGA's Dreamcast console which never arrived too late to participate in the PlayStation, N64 generation but never quite had the hardware to compete with the Xbox, PS2 and GameCube.
He began: "It is an open question whether the Wii successor is an in-between console, much like Segas Dreamcast was back in the late 90stoo late to compete with the PlayStation and N64, and not sufficiently advanced to compete with the PS2 and Xbox."
The analyst went on to say that innovation in the console like the potential controller featuring a 6 inch LCD touch screen could prove a double-edged sword by making the console an interesting prospect to consumers but also ramping up the price compared to its already well-established competitors in the 360 and PS3.
