PSPgo gone?

It has been suggested in Japan that the Sony's download-only handheld, the PSPGo, may be on it's way out.

Reports translated by Andriasang, a blog that is apparently run by what is either a Sony Store employee of a fanatical Sony fan at the very least has received confirmation that Sony is to cease production of the handheld.

Sales of the handheld in Japan have been all but dismal with the machine selling no more than three figures week on week.

Even the Sony Store product listing for the PSPGo is listing the machine as out of stock with no prediction as to when it will come back into stock.

Sony passed comment to MCV saying: "It is a very exciting time for PlayStation portable devices. Before the end of the year we are launching NGP, our next generation portable device, which we believe will revolutionise portable gaming. In the meantime, the current generation of PSPs continue to be in demand, especially since the introduction of our value for money, Essentials range of games and we will continue to meet that demand."
