Sniper Elite V2 announced
The well-received series returns in 2012
505 Games and Rebellion have announced Sniper Elite V2, due for release next year.
V2 is a direct sequel to 2005's Sniper Elite, in which you take the role of a secret agent sniper during World War II.
Not much is known about the game itself. The press release makes reference to "the current generation of consoles," which suggests it will be making an appearance on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Yet there's no mention of PC, despite the previous game hitting that platform.
"Sniper Elite has always been the benchmark of the genre and never been bettered - until now," said 505 Games managing director Ian Howe in the release.
"We guarantee that the sequel will be the most authentic WWII sniping experience ever not just in terms of weapon ballistics, but also in delivering the heart-pulsing tension of those do or die moments where one shot really does matter."
Let's just hope it turns out better than confusingly successful, but largely pants, Sniper: Ghost Warrior.
