THQ needs to shift 2 million copies of Homefront to break even
Kaos' new FPS is a big risk for THQ
THQ has admitted that they will need to shift a significant number of copies of their new IP Homefront in order for the title to even break even.
THQ's chief financial officer Paul Pucino confessed at a conference Wedbush Morgan that they will need to sell at least two million copies of Homefront to break even on the new IP.
He explained: "When you just think in terms or profitability, the owned IP, there's a threshold of break-even of about 2 million units per game, so you have to sell somewhere in the area of 2 million copies of a game like Homefront to break even. Once you get past that you're generating incremental operating margins as high as 60 per cent."
Homefront will launch next week on the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC. The US will see Homefront arrive on the 15th of March with Europe getting the game on the 18th.
