Vietnam to ban late night online gaming
Vietnam the latest Asian country to take measures against online gaming on health grounds
The Vietnamese government has decided to take measures to ban online gaming late at night as a measure to curb potential health risks from playing online games.
Online gaming will be barred by ISPs in Vietnam after 10pm at night in a bid to prevent the kind of health problems that have been seen in South Korea due to extended play sessions on games like World of Warcraft.
The deputy minister of Information and Communication Le Nam Thang said: "Provincial departments of information and communication will inspect online games activities nationwide and deal with organisations that violate regulations by cancelling their services."
VTC Intercom and Asiasoft, providers of online gaming, have spoken out over the measures stating that it would limit access to services that their customers have paid for and create difficulties for game maintenance.
Thanks MCV.
