The new title called Call of Juarez: The Cartel has shifted the series to the modern day and follow a path from Los Angeles down to Juarez in Mexico with heavy drug-related theme.
Mexican officials have objected to the release due to the perceived effect that it will have on children especially in the light of escalating drug-related violence in the country.
Ricardo Boone Salmon, congressman for Chihuahua state said: "It is true there is a serious crime situation, which we are not trying to hide. But we also should not expose children to this kind of scenarios so that they are going to grow up with this kind of image and lack of values."
The series has carried a 16+ PEGI rating in Europe up until now and there is no reason to believe Call of Juarez: The Cartel will receive anything less.
