New Forza Motorsport 4 details
Ultra-accurate track and tyre performance realism
The race to be the ultimate driving sim continues. MSN have got their hands on some Forza Motorsport 4 details and it seems developers Turn 10 have gone realism bonkers.
According to the article, the studio has "modeled tire-related properties, such as weight transfer" and got access to "proprietary performance data" from Pirelli to accurately replicate the performance of tires across a range of surfaces.
They've also rented out each of the game's real life tracks, "shooting terabytes worth of video and photos" and tracing the "inside, middle and outside portions of the road surface with a commercial-grade GPS system."
Such is the accuracy of the info they've collated, Turn 10 can now identify "road crowning, tiny changes in camber, or angle, and other anomalies with subcentimeter accuracy."
Even the audio team have gone to great lengths, recording separate audio tracks for each area of each car in the game, including the intake, exhaust and engine sounds.
Put that together with Kinect functionality that will allow you to lean to peer around corners and it's the recipe for perhaps the most accurate driving sim yet. But will it be fun? We'll have to wait until Autumn 2011 to find out.
Thanks MSN Autos.
