Analyst: Guitar Hero's fate was inevitable
Call of Duty will not suffer the same fate
EEDAR's Jesse Divnich has defended how Activision used the Guitar Hero franchise before its cancellation last week.
Divnich said that the series and indeed the music genre's fate was inevitable and that no single publisher was responsible for the downturn in the music genre.
He explained to IndustryGamers:"I still don't believe Activision did anything wrong with Guitar Hero. The entire music category's fate was inevitable, and no single publisher is to blame for its demise. It was an entertainment fad."
On the inevitable comparison between Guitar Hero and Activision's current major cash cow Call of Duty Divnich added: "Guitar Hero and Call of Duty are two different franchises with two different demographics. I don't believe any lessons learned from the music category applies to the Call of Duty franchise. I trust that Activision knows what they are doing with Call of Duty and I remain unconcerned about the franchise's future."
