The mainstream acceptance of videogames continues apace. Civilisation IV has become the first game to win a Grammy award. Well, kind of.

Composer Christopher Tin picked up the Best Instrumental Arrangement Accompanying Vocalist(s) award for Baba Yetu. The song was originally written for the Sid Meier's much lauded 2005 PC strategy title.
The piece, which plays during the game's title screen, was subsequently released on Tin's 2009 album Calling All Dawns, hence the plaudits all these years later.
It represents the first time original music created for a videogame has received a Grammy. There is still no specific gong for videogame music, however, despite the prestigious awards covering a staggering 109 different categories.
