NGP an generation ahead of smartphones says Carmack

DOOM creator impressed by the potential of the NGP

John Carmack, one of the founders of DOOM studio id Software, is very impressed with the technical specifications of Sony's NGP.

He believes that the NGP is a generation ahead of even the next round of iOS and Android devices soon to hit the market.

Carmack explained on Twitter how the NGP's software will keep it ahead of the curve: "Low level APIs (Application Programming Interface) will allow the Sony NGP to perform about a generation beyond smart phones with comparable specs."

As yet neither id or their parent Bethesda are registered as third party developers for the NGP.
