Sony has vowed that they will fix the security rising from the latest revelations from hacking group FailOverFlow.

FailOverFlow published the "root key" to the PlayStation 3 on the internet leaving Sony's previously uncrackable machine wide open for for homebrew coders to create custom and allow hackers the freedom to pirate software.

Sony released a statement via Edge Online saying: "We are aware of this, and are currently looking into it. We will fix the issues through network updates, but because this is a security issue, we are not able to provide you with any more details."

The hacking group believe that this is not a problem that can fix with firmware updates believing that the machine will require a complete overhaul that will render current software incompatible. FailOverFlow member pytey said: "The complete console is compromised there is no way back. The only way to fix this is to issue new hardware. Sony will have to accept this."
