Sony: We will fix security issues
Problems can be soleved despite the root key being made public
Sony has vowed that they will fix the security issues rising from the latest revelations from hacking group FailOverFlow.
FailOverFlow published the "root key" to the PlayStation 3 on the internet leaving Sony's previously uncrackable machine wide open for for homebrew coders to create custom firmware and allow hackers the freedom to pirate PS3 software.
Sony released a statement via Edge Online saying: "We are aware of this, and are currently looking into it. We will fix the issues through network updates, but because this is a security issue, we are not able to provide you with any more details."
The hacking group believe that this is not a problem that Sony can fix with firmware updates believing that the machine will require a complete overhaul that will render current software incompatible. FailOverFlow member pytey said: "The complete console is compromised there is no way back. The only way to fix this is to issue new hardware. Sony will have to accept this."
