Blizzard: Retail can do things that digital can't
Brick and mortar stores still have something going for them
Blizzard's Frank Pearce has been flying the flag in support of boxed retail products especially as a way of rewarding their loyal fans.
Pearce believes that retail can offer a lot more to consumers than digital products like the collector's editions of StarCraft II and World of Warcraft: Cataclysm.
The Blizzard boss explained to Gamasutra:"Retail has things to offer that we can't offer digitally like the collector's edition, which is always popular with our very passionate fans."
He added: "We're also planning midnight launches for the game at retail around the globe with our developers in attendance and signing autographs. You cant get that experience through the digital purchase."
