Kane & Lynch 2 sells more than 1 million
Game proves to be popular despite lukewarm reviews.
While critics may have not enjoyed Kane & Lynch 2, it proved to be a success with the masses - Square Enix recently reported the multiplatform game was one of the publisher's top selling games during its second quarter.
According to financial reports, the title sold more than 1.12 million copies, with more than 700,000 units shifted in Europe alone. In the United States, 390,000 copies were sold, while only about 20,000 were purchased in Japan.
Without a high-profile releases during the second quarter, Square Enix reported overall losses of nearly 30,000 yen, reports AndriaSang. In the previous quarter, the company released Final Fantasy XIII in Europe and North America.
Despite the sales numbers, Kane & Lynch developer IO Interactive recently laid off more than 30 employees.
