Microsoft upgrades Kinect projections to 5 million
Microsoft expects big things from its controller-less technology
While both the PlayStation Move and Kinect have been subject to criticism from core gamers, Microsoft is anticipating its controller-less technology to be a big seller this holiday season. In fact, the company recently upgraded its sales forecast in light of pre-launch buzz.
Previously, the company anticipated that Kinect would sell 3 million units through Christmas. Now, Bloomberg's Dina Bass reports that the company is expecting sales for the device to reach 5 million.
According Microsoft's Don Mattrick, achieving this milestone would "make Kinect the biggest Xbox product launch ever in terms of sales."
Kinect is set to go on sale in the United States tomorrow, while it will hit European retail shelves next week on November 10.
