Mouthy analyst for Wedbush Morgan, Michael Pachter, has been upbeat about how the will fare over the holiday season.

Pachter explained that the surge in and due to the new models and motion controllers is only temporary and the Wii, being more of a machine is much more popular as a gift.

He began: "The Wii has dropped from first to third, but the new models for and the launch of PS3 had something to do with that, and it's likely only temporary.

Pachter continued: "I think that Mr. Iwata is right when he says that the Wii is more of a holiday purchase, as the core audience has long been satisfied, and the more casual audience comprises the much larger portion of the addressable market."

Nintendo's Red Wii, to commemorate Mario's 25th anniversary will launch on October the 29th in the with Britain and getting the first chance to get their hands on the Wii Remote Plus which is bundled with the limited edition red machine.
