Medal of Honor sells 1.5 million in 5 days, gets free DLC
Gamers ignore the reviews
Medal of Honor has defied the lukewarm critical reception by selling 1.5 million copies in the first five days since its release in the US and two days in Europe and Asia.
The new game has not been well received by critics with the Xbox and PS3 versions scoring just 75 on Metacritic and the PC version scoring 76 however the poor reviews don't seem to have swayed customers who have been flocking to their local games stores to pick up the game.
EA's president Frank Gibeau said: "Medal of Honor is one of EA's most storied franchises and we're thrilled to see that fans worldwide have embraced it. In this ultra competitive category, Medal of Honor stands out from the pack. By portraying the Tier 1 Operator as so elite, so tough, Medal of Honor offers a view into a world that has the power to resonate with FPS gamers everywhere."
Medal of Honor will receive its first pack of free DLC on November the 2nd with the pack adding a new multiplayer game mode and two new maps and will be available to players with a valid Online Pass.
The new mode included is Clean Sweep multiplayer mode which is an elimination mode in which players will have to rely on skill and teamwork to stay alive. The pack also includes maps for Bagram Hanger and Khyber Caves as well as redesigned versions of the Kabul City Ruins and Diwagal Camp maps.
