Blizzard takes StarCraft II cheats to court
Blizzard takes a hard line with cheaters
Blizzard has begun a lawsuit against three hackers who have been creating cheats and hacks for StarCraft II.
The three men know as Permaphrost, Cranix and Linuxawesome are being accused of multiple infringements of copyright for creating and selling cheat mods for StarCraft II.
The company is seeking damages and a cut of the profits from the creation of the cheats which have been used by over 5000 StarCraft II players.
The suit states: "Just days after the release of StarCraft II, Defendants already had developed, marketing and distributed to the public a variety of hacks and cheats designed to modify (and in fact destroy) the StarCraft II online game experience. In fact, on the very day that StarCraft II was released, representatives of the hacks Web site advised members of the public that 'our staff is already planning new releases for this game'."
Thanks MCV.
