Move shifts 1.5 million units in Europe
Sony's new peripheral proves popular in Europe.
At least in Europe, Sony's PlayStation Move motion controller seems to be a smash hit. SCEE's Andrew House recently confirmed the device has sold more than 1.5 million units since its September launch.
"The initial sales response has been so far in excess of our initial plan that we'll probably be looking at accelerating production," House told Bloomberg. "We have lots of confidence in our ability to hit our profitability target this year, but currency movements present significant challenges."
Growing interest in Sony's console is likely contributing to Move's success. House also told Bloomberg Sony is positioned to exceed the 15 million PlayStation 3s the company predicted it would sell earlier this year.
Last year, Sony sold about 13 million PlayStation 3 units worldwide, driven largely by the popularity of its slimmed down model.
