Up to 60 employees let go from Robomodo
Tony Hawk devs let go prior to the release of new game
While Tony Hawk: Shred is only weeks away from release, developer Robomodo has been hit by layoffs.
Sources close to the matter tell Kotaku that as many as 60 employees were let go. The studio's president Josh Tsui confirmed the layoffs, releasing the following statement: "It is always difficult to let hard-working and valued employees go. Robomodo has retained all of the company's directors and leads, along with other staff members. All are busy working on future projects and ideas, which will become the innovative games of tomorrow. We hope to bring back some of our team as we ramp up on our next projects."
Robomodo is best known for last year's Tony Hawk: Ride, which introduced a plastic skateboard peripheral to the long-running franchise.
The Chicago-based studio isn't the only Activision-related developer to release employees this week. Raven Software, the team behind Singularity, was also forced cut one of it's internal groups as the studio begins to refocus on creating downloadable content.
