According to the creative director of British dev studio Rare, Microsoft's upcoming motion controller is capable of "so much more" than Nintendo's gesture-based Wiimote.

In fact, the enhanced capabilities of Kinect is what drove to develop a title for the peripheral. "We wanted to compete head-on with Sports," creative director George Andreas told Wired. "We knew we could do so much more with Kinect than you could with Wii."

Rare's title, Kinect Sports, will launch alongside the Kinect controller next month. It features more than five engaging sports mini-games, ranging from to bowling.

Andreas isn't the only developer to speak so highly of Kinect. Last month, Games Studios' said Nintendo's console isn't as big of a step forward as Kinect.
