Games are art says Guillermo Del Toro

Games not respected by the intellectual elite

Hellboy and Pan's Labyrinth director Guillermo Del Toro has gone on the record saying that games are art.

Del Toro, who recently announced that he would be producing several titles with THQ described video games as the comic books of our times.

He said: "Video games are the comic books of our time. It's a medium that gains no respect among the intellegensia. They say 'oh, video games.' And most people that complain about video games have never f**king played them."

The director rates games like Shadow of the Colossus and ICO highly alongside the Halo series, Uncharted 2, Bioshock and Red Dead Redemption.
