At a press conference earlier today, the Kyoto-based company announce that Mistwalker's Wii-exclusive RPG, The Last Story, will hit Japanese in on January 27.

The game, which is being developed by creator Hironobu Sakaguchi, focuses on the nature of human emotion. Unlike many of Sakaguchi's past products, The Last Story will keep sci-fi elements to a minimum.

Mistwalker's game was first announced earlier this year at a Nintendo Conference and was tentatively scheduled for a 2010 release. However, the publisher opted to the game until 2011 for unknown reasons. Western localizations have not been announced.

Sakaguchi's company is best known for a handful of 360-exclusive RPGs it worked on earlier this generation, including Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey. Mistwalker was originally founded in 2004 with financial backing from Microsoft.
