Rock Band 3 turned heads when first showed off the game's Pro Mode, which enables players to wail along with their favorite songs on real guitars or 100-button plastic guitars.

While players are already paying a premium for these top-end peripherals, it seems they'll have to pony up even more to play Pro Mode DLC. In an interview with IGN, Games head Paul DeGooyer said the high-level content will cost North American gamers $1 more at $2.99. Standard mode and Pro Mode downloadables for the other instruments stands at $1.99.

"Right now, a typical stand-alone song for us is a buck ninety-nine. If you wanted to buy Pro Mode for guitar on top of that dollar ninety-nine, it would cost a buck," he explained. "So its not going to be five bucks or anything. We think its a really fair price. The alternative would be of course to include it (in the regular download) and up the price for everybody, which I dont think is really fair."

No announcements have been made for the European versions of the game, though it's likely they will follow a similar model.
