Double Fine hires DeathSpank's Ron Gilbert
The Laurel and Hardy of video games are reunited.
Tim Schafer's Double Fine Productions has hired Ron Gilbert, who created the recent downloadable title DeathSpank.
Both Schafer and Gilbert worked at Lucas Arts some 20-odd years ago. Together, they crafted popular adventure titles, including Monkey Island and Maniac Mansion. The two are known for humour-infused video games.
Speaking with Kotaku, Gilbert confirmed that he is working on a new title with the company. "For the last couple of months Tim has been loaning me his desk here, as he has in the past," he said. "We have just been talking about different ideas I've had for games, kinda going back and forth like we do, and then Tim suggested, 'Hey why don't you come here and build this thing.'
Double Fine Productions is currently working on Costume Quest, a downloadable title set to be published by THQ this Halloween.
