Sony working on a PS2 adapter for PS3?
Backwards compatibility on its way after all?
Sony seems to have been working on an adapter that will add PS2 compatibility to the PS3.
According to trademark filings Sony are working on a box that can plug into the PS3 to allow it to play PS2 games.
The original 60GB PS3s had in-built hardware backwards-compatibility for PS2 titles but it didn't quite work properly and was removed to save production costs.
From the schematics dug by the folks at Siliconera it seems to be a dongle that contains a PS2 processor that will allow the PS3 to play PS2 games through the PS3.
