Jonathan Blow covertly debuts new game at PAX Prime
The Witness was hiding from players instead of Blow
Jonathan Blow, creator of the 2008 independent title Braid, debuted his latest game - The Witness - at the recent PAX Prime event. However, only observant gamers were likely to notice The Witness, as there was no signage marking the title's presence.
Writing on The Witness' official blog, Blow said this was done intentionally. He wanted consumers to be able to find something "unexpected" at the event. Additionally, Blow didn't want players to feel pressured to rush through the demo because of people waiting in line.
"I didnt want to give them any reason to think that this was a good game, or was by any designer they might have heard of," Blow explained. "So I just left the game running, and would occasionally peek at it from afar to see who was playing and how they were doing."
The Witness is a puzzle games, and is tentatively set to release on the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC in 2011.
