While many developers are embracing the launch of Sony's and Microsoft's gesture-based controllers, is skeptical that it will be able to integrate the devices into their current library of games.

Final Fantasy lead developer Yoshinori Kitase told Eurogamer that RPGs aren't good fits for motion controllers. This is mainly because RPGs are often played in long bursts, while shooters are considerably shorter.

"The main difference between shooting games and RPGs obviously there are some but shooting games probably amount to up to 10 to 15 hours of gameplay," he explained. "But an RPG, you have to improve your character fight and fight and fight, and then the ending, and then more to play with, that could be 40 to 50 hours.

Kitase is optimistic, though, that Square could implement motion controls in mini-games to offer more gameplay variety.

Sony's controller is set to launch in September, while Microsoft's will release in November.
