Though still has finalized a title for the upcoming game, the Tokyo-based publisher has decided the latest entry in the long-running horror franchise will come out sometime in 2011.

After the action-focused Silent Hill: Homecoming and the first-person Shattered Memories, Konami hopes to go back to the series roots with the 2011 Silent Hill game. The 2011 title will feature a third-person adventure, complete with a thought-provoking story.

"In honoring the rich history and strong following of Silent Hill, were working hard to build a next generation horror game that the fans truly deserve," said Shinji Hirano, president of Konami Digital Entertainment, in a company statement. This Silent Hill introduces an all-new storyline and unique evolutions in gameplay, building on innovations and successes from over a decade of true and terror.

The game, tentatively titled Silent Hill 8, is currently slated for the PlayStation 3 and 360.
