After looking at Valve's recent track record it's obvious the American developer can do no wrong . The firm has churned out hit after hit and also operates a download service that is often heralded as the savior of gaming in Steam.

Valve's unique position in the puts the company at the perfect place to generate more money by going public in the stock market. However, the firm recently told PC Gamer that they wouldn't do that in order to maintain their creative independence.

"Any bad decision I ever see out there is because somebody created this different customer that was whoever funds them, and not the consumer of the product," Valve's Erik Johnson told PC Gamer.

Valve is currently working on a follow up to their quirky 2007 puzzle game Portal. The title is currently due on February the 9th of next year for all high-definition platforms with Steamworks support appearing on a console for the first time in the version.
