Square working with Western dev on new triple-A title
Square hopes new game turns fantasy of success into reality
Despite Square Enix already having an army of unreleased games in the pipeline, the Japanese publisher announced during the recent CEDEC conference that it was working with a Western developer on a new triple-A title.
According to Siliconera, the game is classified as a large-scale hardcore project developed with worldwide audiences in mind. Square Enix labelled the title as being triple-A quality and expects it to score at least 90 percent on Metacritic.
Yosuke Shiokawa, who was behind last year's Dissidia: Final Fantasy, will serve as the creative director for the game while Yuki Matsuzawa of Final Fantasy XIII fame will act as the lead concept artist. The two project heads said the game will focus on "believable" characters rather than playing on Western or Japanese stereotypes.
With Tokyo Game Show on the horizon, Square's new title could possibly make its debut appearance at the convention. The publishers will be showing off games from several of its flagship series such as The 3rd Birthday, Final Fantasy XIV and Deus Ex: Human Revolutions.
