Earlier today, unknown Japanese studio Alvion unveiled Malicious, a new action/beat 'em up that's exclusive to the PlayStation Network.

The game's core gimmick is the protagonist's cloak, which can be transformed into different shapes and objects, giving the player access to different moves. For example, the cape could encompass a player and protect the hero from damage or turn into a sword that could be used against enemies.

Additionally, the game features a Mega Man-like progression system that allows the protagonist to steal defeated bosses' powers. Players can freely pick which stage they want to play at any given time, enabling them to use their newly acquired powers to exploit subsequent bosses' weaknesses.

As Andriasang notes, Malicious was first teased back in June, though these are the first major details reported about the title.

Malicious is set to hit the Japanese PlayStation Network later this year, though whether the game will make it to the other side of the drink is unknown.
