Blizzard: We won't tell how much StarCraft II cost
But it wasn't 100 million USD...
Blizzard has officially put to rest the specualtion over the StarCraft II production budget after the Wall Street Journal's misquote last week.
The World of Warcraft creator have affirmed that the number quoted was indeed a figure for World of Warcraft and not StarCraft II.
Furthermore, citing competetive reasons Blizzard said that they will not be disclosing a figure for StarCraft II but it is perfectly feasible that the RTS sequel's budget could approach 100 million USD.
A Blizzard representative told IndustryGamers: "I wanted to call your attention to the very important fact that this number was an error... Blizzard Entertainment has never disclosed the development cost of StarCraft II, and for competitive reasons, we will not do so. And just a friendly reminder regarding the WSJ note that the $100 million+ figure refers to World of Warcraft."
