Monkeystone founder John Romero (famous for and the first Quake, infamous for Daikatana and the demise of Ion Storm) has apparently revealed the existence of the 2 in an interview with games site Compulenta at the Moscow Games Developers Conference. So reports The Register, today.

Monkeystone develop for mobile platforms, so it is more than plausible that Romero might know of an N-Gage update in the works at Nokia, and the designer is reported as commenting that the new addresses all the annoyances of the original.

Apparently, the new design will make phone calls less of an embarrassing affair, make cartridges easier to insert as well as being generally smaller and thinner, too. More news on this as we get it.
