Two Street Fighter/Tekken crossovers revealed
Street Fighter and Tekken go head-to-head for the first time - twice
Street Fighter creator Yoshinori Ono and Tekken series director Katsuhiro Harada got together at this year's San Diego Comic-Con to deliver the news that fighting game fans have been waiting just over 15 years for.
Capcom and Namco are developing a pair of Tekken and Street Fighter crossover titles for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 named Street Fighter X Tekken and Tekken X Street Fighter with the "X" being short for cross.
Iconic characters like Kazuya Mishima and Nina Williams will be rendered in the Street Fighter IV engine taking on the likes of Ken and Ryu in Street Fighter X Tekken. Tekken X Street Fighter will see the characters of the Street Fighter series fight 3D battles for the first time using the Tekken 6 engine.
In honour of the announcement Ono arrived to the panel dressed as Ryu and Harada arrived dressed as Tekkens Heihachi.
Ono explained to the panel: "This is history we're making. Two fighting games that have rivalled each other are finally standing on the same stage. This isn't just a showdown between Tekken and Street Fighter, but a decisive battle for Capcom and Namco Bandai Games. So I'm going to give it my all."
The duo would not be pinned down to a release date with Capcom intent to focus on Marvel vs Capcom 3 for now.
