Producer of Metal Gear Solid: Rising, Shigenobu Matsuyama, has re-affirmed their desire to see the game become a series in its own right.

Matsuyama-san told interviewers that he would like MGS: Rising to leave a lasting legacy on the games industry.

He said: "We would like Rising to go on as a series. Rising is the new MGS by the next generation [of] creators."

He also added that the game wasn't merely another hack and slash title. He continued: "It's not just a game where you cut and cut and proceed; you have to accurately aim so that you can take the battery and absorb it yourself."

MGS: Rising will have to wait for its series status as the first title is not due out for and until 2012.

Thanks CVG.
