Sony has officially announced that next game in the MotorStorm series.

MotorStorm Armageddon is set in a derelict city, abandoned after a earthquake, which features 40 unique dynamic tracks that change - often explosively - in real time.

This being an urban instalment the off-road vehicles have been joined by a whole bunch of supercars, muscle cars superbikes and choppers.

Single player mode features three different characters, each with a different story and difficulty level.

Multiplayer is offered as up to four player split screen or 16 player over PSN.

Sony, being big on user-generated content, has included a Game Mode Creator in the latest instalment of MotorStorm which will allow players to create, share and play their own game experiences.

There will also be a host of vehicles and customisations available on the PlayStation Store.

MotorStorm Apocalypse is slated for release exclusively on some time in 2011.
