Rockstar's epic Western has shot to the top of the charts like a runaway stagecoach, despite experiencing severe stock shortages.

Even a week later, copies of are scarce but being in short supply hasn't hampered the game from being a success.

UK magazine MCV, estimates that Redemption took in over 10 million GBP in its first two days.

HMV's Jonathan Hayes pointed out just how remarkable Red Dead's performance has been and that the shortages may even have helped the game sustain sales.

He said: "The launch went incredibly well. As a relatively new brand, it's almost done this from a standing start. You could argue that a few were lost, but not vast amounts. In fact, there's so much interest now, that this should carry on next week."
