Phantasy Star ending with III
No plans for PSO series from Sega
If reports emerging from Sega are to be believed Phantasy Star Online Episode III: C.A.R.D. Revolution (due out on the GameCube in Q2 2004) could well be the last in the series for quite some time, with the publisher having no plans for any additional instalments at this moment. However, all is not lost, as Sonic Team director Yojiro Ogawa revealed in an IGN interview that he simply "didn't know about the future".
Speculation of an Xbox port for number 3 was also dismissed, though Ogawa did confirm that it wouldn't be too tough a proposition in theory, stating it is "easy to create a title for GameCube, but Xbox also has the same level of hardware performance and has made it easy to create content for."
Finally, Ogawa was also coy on his studio's direction beyond PSO, stating only that "We are advancing on various projects now, but unfortunately I am in no position to talk about them, so please try and ask Naka-san, the president." Thanks to Eurogamer.net for spotting this news.
