Ubisoft keeping tabs on EA's 'Project 10 USD'
They may follow suit...
Ubisoft CFO, Alain Martinez, has admitted that they will be watching EA's Project 10 USD approach to tackling the pre-owned market to see how it is received.
The French-based publishing and development house has confessed that they will look to follow EA's example if it proves viable.
Martinez told investors: "We are looking very carefully at what is being done by EA regarding what we call the '10 USD solution,' and we will probably follow that line at sometime in the future."
He added that they will also be focussing on adding DLC to most of their new releases. He continued: "Regarding ... monetising used games or downloadable content ... most of the games that we will release next year will have downloadable content available from the start."
EA's Project 10 USD will begin next month with the release of Tiger Woods' PGA Tour Golf 2011. Anyone who picks up a second hand copy of the game will be forced to pay 10 USD to gain access to the online components of the title.
Thanks Gamasutra.
