Warner buys MMO studio Turbine
Lord of the mergers
In a move to consolidate the Lord of the Rings franchise under one roof, Warner Bros. has acquired massively multiplayer online game developer Turbine.
According to a release from Warner Bros. Interactive, the merger brings the Lord of the Rings Online studio in line with the rest of the games leveraging the fantasy franchise.
This is the latest in a series of buyouts orchestrated by Warner Bros. Previously, the company brought Batman: Arkham Asylum developer Rocksteady Studios into the fold. Earlier, Traveller's Tales was merged with Warner.
No changes to Lord of the Rings Online have been announced as a result of the sale.
