Critics of violent games "aren't gamers"
Criticism caused by fear of the unknown
With the release of Kane and Lynch: Dog Days creeping ever closer, IO's game director, Karsten Lund has been hitting out at critics of violent video games.
Lund told CVG that he felt that violence in games was being criticised by an 'outside crowd' who don't understand video games.
Lund said: "I'm not an expert in psychology, but I do think that some of these opinions come from an outside crowd that's not really used to dealing with games, they just watch it and think 'Oh, it's got to be affecting people'."
"Games, in general, throughout history have been violent," Lund continued. "Even chess is a violent game about war you could say, right? Games are a chance to try stuff that you're not trying in real life, and without having to face the consequences. Every game is like that so that's nothing new."
Kane and Lynch 2: Dog Days is due out on August 27th for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.
