Activision have confirmed that they are currently wielding the staffing axe over their and European operations.

Staff are being shuffled around and let go in their UK marketing and IT departments, as well as their European publishing department.

Activision told GamesIndustry.biz in an official statement: "We are realigning our structure to better reflect our slate and the market opportunities in as well as directing our resources against the largest and most profitable business segments. Like any successful business, Publishing consistently works to align its costs with its revenues - this is on ongoing process."

Along with the cuts they have promoted CEO Mike Griffith to vice chairman, moved CFO Thomas Tippl to COO and re-formed their publishing structure into four departments; one each to oversee Call of Duty, and remaining franchises, third-part titles and Blizzard's portfolio.
