The open level hub world used in previous Super games has been nixed, replaced by a simple world map to make it easier to select levels.

GameInformer writes about the change, highlighting the return to a world map in line with classic instalments in the franchise including the recent New Super Mario Bros. Wii.

Gone is the 3D hub featured in Super Mario Galaxy, which was often a source of annoyance because of the extra time required to run between levels. That's done away with now that levels can be quickly selected from a straightforward map.

Super Mario Galaxy 2 will be available for on May 23 in the and June 11 in Europe.
