Nintendo has no plan to revitalise classic Kid Icarus for Wii, but remains open to the idea if only public demand for a new game reaches a critical mass.

Yoshio Sakamoto, the game's creator, confessed no knowledge of a remake or new game in an interview with Kotaku. Instead, he expressed a willingness to consider the idea if enough fans speak up.

"I don't know personally about any project underway regarding Kid Icarus, but if so many of those people are interested in it and really want to see it on the they should really speak up."

Sakamoto, who is currently wrapping up production on Metroid: Other M, stressed that if a Kid Icarus game were to be developed for Wii that he may not even be part of the project--a point fans pining for a sequel may want to take note of as they continue to petition Nintendo.
